Bottle Cap Sunflowers

What a fun way to liven up your projects.  To use the Bottle caps for these projects, you can either use them as they are or turn them inside out.  If you have never seen this done, it is very easy.  Place your bottle cap right side up and with a rubber mallet hit the bottle cap two to three times until the sides ruffle up and when you turn it over it appears to be inside out.  You can remove the rubber liner if you would like.  Now it looks like a little round picture frame.  Think of the “popabilities”!

Stamp the E4029 sunflower stamp with black or brown crafters ink, FabricoŇ or another permanent ink, masking if necessary.  I usually use my heat tool to heat set, so I don’t have to wait until dry.  Color the sunflowers with markers, chalks or watercolors as you chose.  Tear fairly closely around the edges of the stamped images as not to tear into the images.  Using our EK Success Medium round punch (this punch is the perfect size for the centers of your bottle caps), turn the punch upside down so you can see where you are punching and place over the centers of the sunflower images.  When you find the center areas, punch out the flower centers.  Glue the sunflower images, layering several matching colors of paper stock with similar torn edges as you see in the example.  With our Ultimate glue (this glue is non toxic and glues metal products), glue the punched centers of the sunflowers into the bottle caps, followed by gluing the bottle caps into the sunflower centers.  If you wish to emboss the centers, make sure the glue on the centers of the sunflowers is dry.  Sponge our Top Boss clear ink on the flower center and dip into our Designs extra thick liquid glass embossing powder, heating and adding more embossing powder until the center is thick and smooth.  The bottle caps retain heat for a very long time, so you will want to use a pair of tweezers when heating.  You will want to do the embossing prior to gluing the bottle caps in place on your project.  These flowers look really cute done in other colors like bright pink or red, and look like daisies rather than sunflowers.
