Chalk Blender Instructions
These are very basic blender instructions. If you would like more in depth
instructions, we have available a booklet dedicated to “Working with Chalk
Blender”.
It
is a very good idea to experiment on scrap paper to get the feel for working
with the Chalk Blender. Always have a paper towel available to take the excess
fluid off of the applicator. Pour just a few drops of the Chalk Blender into
the small container provided or in a plastic pallet, and dip one side of the
applicator in the liquid. Dab applicator on a paper towel. Very little of the
liquid is needed to work with the chalk. This is one of the cases where less
is much better. Rub over desired chalk color with dampened applicator and
apply to paper. It should go on smooth and not streaked or soupy. Add whatever
shading colors you desire. It is not necessary to dip the applicator back into
the Chalk Blender before picking up a shading color. The color will intensify
as you shade and blend chalk. You will notice that some colors will intensify
more than others. This creates a smooth and bright finish to your project. No
fixative is necessary when using the Chalk Blender. Do not use the same
applicator for dry chalking after using this technique. If you will be doing
dry chalking with the same chalk palette, keep the Blender area separate from
the dry area. If you are planning to do a great deal of Blending with your
chalks, you may wish to have a set just for this technique. You will need to
be more careful to stay within the lines with the Blender; the color is not as
easy to erase as with dry chalk. As with regular chalking, many different
colors can be blended to obtain this watercolor-look effect. Wash the
applicators periodically in soap and water and let dry thoroughly before using
again. |
