Yvonne Albritton Designs Art Rubber Stamps for Stamping & Scrapping
Plaid Teddies & Bunnies
Step 1: Stamp teddy on patterned paper in black or brown ink. Stamp the same teddy on solid colored or printed background paper in the same color ink.
Step 2: Trim very closely around the teddy on the patterned paper (trimming of all fur on the edges)
Step 3: Glue trimmed pattered paper bear onto the stamped background paper (Look all the fur returns!) Highlight and shadow areas on the image, such as the pads of the paws, nose, ribbons etc with a pale co-coordinating marker. On the stamp images like the bears with hats, I cut off the hat as well when I cut out the bear image and color it in on the background paper with co-coordinating markers.
Hint: I use glue stick when gluing these projects. Old school I know, but some times old school is better. There is a secret to using glue stick. Turn the cut out teddy wrong side up on a piece of scrap paper. Run the glue stick firmly around all edges of the project and spread the glue stick over the entire back of the image. Place the cut out teddy over the top of the image stamped on plain or background paper. When perfectly in place, matching the background lines of the image lay a clean piece of scrap paper over the top. Smooth firmly with the side of your hand over the entire image that is covered with scrap paper. When you pick up the scrap paper the image will be firmly glued in place with no smearing or extra glue around the edges.
The Cowboy boots are done in a similar way, by stamping it on two tones of coordinating plaids or prints. Cut only parts of one of the prints and glue over the top of the other. Try this with other open style images such as birdhouses, watermelons and flowers. It’s kind of fun to be just a little out there with plaid roses or poppies for a change!
